Community Guidelines
How to treat people on Wingd, what is not allowed, and how we keep the community safe.
Wingd is a dating app for people aged 18 and over who want real, intentional connection. These Community Guidelines explain how to treat people on Wingd and what is not allowed. They apply everywhere in the app, including your profile, photos, daily photo, prompts, messages, voice notes, the AI Wingman, and any events you sign up for.
These guidelines sit alongside our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you break them, we may remove your content, suspend your account, or ban you permanently. All of this exists to keep Wingd a place where people can meet safely and be treated with respect.
1. Who these guidelines are for
These guidelines apply to everyone who uses Wingd.
- Wingd is for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18 you cannot use it. Wingd is rated 18+ on the relevant app store, and we use a date-of-birth gate at sign-up plus phone verification. We may carry out additional checks where there is reason for doubt. These controls do not mean every user’s identity or exact age has been independently verified.
- One real person, one account. The account you create must be your own.
- The rules here cover everything you do on Wingd and how you treat the people you meet through it.
2. Be yourself
People come to Wingd to meet real people. Be one.
- Use your own photos and give accurate information about yourself.
- Do not impersonate anyone or pretend to be someone you are not. Fake or catfish profiles are not allowed.
- Do not create accounts for businesses, pets, fictional characters, or anyone who is not you.
- Do not share, buy, or sell accounts, and do not use bots or automated tools on Wingd.
- If we have good reason to believe an account is not a real person aged 18 or over, we can remove it.
3. Treat people with respect
Wingd is for people of every gender and sexuality, and everyone here has the right to feel safe.
- No harassment, threats, intimidation, or stalking, whether on the app or after you have connected somewhere else.
- No hate speech and no discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any similar characteristic.
- Consent matters at every stage. Matching with someone is not consent to anything further. The same applies to Exclusive Mode: accepting or declining it must be a free choice, and either person may change their mind. If someone is not interested or stops replying, respect that and move on.
- Do not pressure anyone into sending photos, sharing personal details, giving money, meeting up, moving off the app, or accepting or staying in Exclusive Mode.
- Do not use Exclusive Mode, or the fact that someone declined or ended it, to threaten, shame, isolate, monitor, harass or control them.
4. Photos and profile content
Your profile is how people first see you, so keep it honest and appropriate.
- Your photos must show you and must be images you have the right to use.
- No nudity and no sexually explicit images. We screen uploaded photos automatically and remove explicit content.
- Your daily photo must be a genuine photo taken that day, and it must clearly show your face. Do not try to fake it or hide your face.
- Do not use other people's images as your own, and avoid celebrity photos, stock images, or group shots where it is not clear which person is you.
- Nothing illegal, violent, graphic, hateful, or meant to shock.
- Keep contact details, social media handles, links, and advertising out of your profile and your photos.
5. Messages, voice notes, and chat
Everything in this section applies to text messages and to voice notes equally.
- No sexual content. Do not send, request, generate, or share nudity, pornography, sexually explicit messages, sexual images, sexual voice notes, or graphic sexual content. This applies even if another person appears to agree to receive it.
- No sexual harassment, cyberflashing, sexual threats, grooming, coercion, sextortion, or threats to share intimate images.
- No spam, advertising, or links promoting other services, and no recruiting people to other platforms or schemes.
- Do not ask for or send money, gifts, cryptocurrency, or financial help. Be very wary of anyone who does. See Staying safe below.
- Do not share other people's private information or images, and do not screenshot or repost someone's profile, photos, or messages in order to harass or expose them.
- Do not use chat to plan or carry out anything illegal or harmful.
6. What is never allowed
Some things are off limits completely. If you do any of these we can remove you immediately, and we report to the police where the law requires it.
- Anyone under 18 using or appearing on Wingd, and any sexual content involving a child. We remove and preserve relevant evidence, and report detected and previously unreported child sexual exploitation and abuse content through the legally required reporting route. If a child is in immediate danger, emergency services are contacted.
- Sexual exploitation or trafficking, and selling or soliciting sexual services.
- Sharing, threatening to share, creating, or encouraging the creation of intimate images of someone without their consent, including altered or AI-generated intimate images.
- Threatening or promoting violence, terrorism, or serious harm to anyone.
- Content that encourages, assists, instructs, or pressures someone to attempt suicide or serious self-harm. Good-faith discussion of recovery, seeking support, or encouraging someone to get help is not banned by this rule.
- Selling or promoting drugs, weapons, or other illegal goods.
- Scams, fraud, phishing, and romance fraud.
- Hacking, abusing, or interfering with the app, our systems, or other people's accounts.
7. Using the AI Wingman
Wingd includes an AI Wingman for @ai requests and occasional quiet-chat nudges, plus a separate private advice chat in Settings. In-chat Wingman is off by default. After sign-up, a separate prompt explains the features and asks whether you want to enable them. Both people in a match must opt in before either in-chat feature can send conversation messages to Anthropic. If you do not answer, in-chat Wingman stays off.
You can change your choice in Profile using “Wingman in your chats”. If either person declines or withdraws, manual @ai requests and automatic nudges stop for that match for both people, and no further messages are sent for those features. The private advice chat is separate and unaffected. Our Privacy Policy explains the messages shared and how consent works.
- Respect the other person’s choice about AI. Do not pressure them to enable it or copy their private messages into another AI feature to get around their refusal.
- The AI is there to help your conversations, not to harass, deceive, or harm anyone.
- Do not use it to produce abusive, hateful, sexual, manipulative, deceptive, or otherwise rule-breaking content.
- The AI can be wrong. Treat what it says as a suggestion, not a fact, and use your own judgement.
- Everything in these guidelines applies to whatever the AI helps you write. You are responsible for what you choose to send.
8. Events
Wingd may list in-person dating events run by partner venues. If you sign up for one, the way you behave there matters as much as the way you behave in the app.
- When you sign up for an event, the organiser receives some of your profile details so they can run it. That normally means your name, age, and gender, and for events meant for a particular group it can include your sexuality. Signing up is your choice, and we set out what is shared in our Privacy Policy.
- Turn up respectfully and follow the venue's and the organiser's rules.
- Everything in these guidelines applies at events too, from respect and consent to our rules against harassment.
- Look after your own safety as you would on any first meeting. See below.
9. Staying safe
These are advice rather than rules, but please take them seriously. They come from how dating actually works in the real world.
- Keep personal details private until you trust someone, including your home address, your workplace, and your financial information.
- For a first meeting, choose a public place, tell a friend where you are going, and sort out your own way there and back.
- Be careful with anyone who asks for money or gifts, pushes to move off Wingd very quickly, avoids voice or video, or tells a story that does not add up. These are common signs of a scam.
- We protect your data on our side. Your precise location is never shared with other users, only a rough distance. Your exact date of birth is never shown. Your photos and voice notes are stored privately. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
- If something feels wrong, trust that feeling, stop the conversation, and block or report the person.
10. Reporting and blocking
If someone breaks these guidelines or makes you uncomfortable, you have two tools, and you can use either at any time.
- Block. Open the person's profile or your chat with them and block them. You can do this at any time, including during Exclusive Mode. Blocking is mutual in effect, takes priority over Exclusive Mode, and you disappear from each other's app. Any match or likes between you are removed. The block stays in place until the person who placed it removes it from their Blocked Users list.
- Report. Use the report option to tell us what happened. Reports go to our safety team, and reporting also removes that person from your experience. If you were in Exclusive Mode with them, that mode cannot continue after the removal. If someone unmatches before you can report them, contact support@wingd.co.uk promptly and give us enough information to identify the account and incident.
- We keep proportionate safety records so someone cannot erase the safety trail simply by unmatching or deleting an account. Restricted chat evidence is kept for 30 days from an unmatch or 6 months from a block. If a report is made, the relevant report evidence is kept for 24 months from report closure, unless a documented legal, regulatory, law-enforcement or specific safety hold requires longer. We keep the profile as it appeared when reported for 24 months, with its images kept for 90 days. These records are not visible to users in the app and access is restricted. See our Privacy Policy for the separate media-backup recovery periods.
- Every profile and daily photo uploaded to Wingd is automatically checked for nudity and explicit content before it appears. Wingd does not support image attachments in private chat, and sexual content is prohibited in text messages, voice notes and AI-assisted messages.
- If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
11. How we enforce these guidelines
We review reports and content that our systems flag, prioritising urgent risks and taking proportionate action. Critical safety issues are escalated immediately; other reports are handled as promptly as their seriousness and the available evidence require. Depending on the case, we may:
- Remove the content or the profile.
- Give you a warning.
- Suspend the account or ban it permanently.
We can act without warning when a breach is serious. When we ban someone for safety reasons the ban can follow their phone number, so they cannot simply sign up again with the same number. We may keep proportionate safety information after account deletion, remove illegal content swiftly, preserve evidence and cooperate with law enforcement or make mandatory reports where the law requires it.
12. Appeals and complaints
You can report content or conduct from the relevant profile or chat, or email support@wingd.co.uk. We will review the report and take action that is proportionate to the circumstances. Where appropriate, we will tell the reporting person that the report has been reviewed, although we may not disclose private details about another user.
If we remove your content, restrict your account, suspend you or ban you, you can appeal by replying to the decision notice or emailing support@wingd.co.uk. Explain why you believe the decision was wrong and include relevant context. A different reviewer will consider the appeal where reasonably possible. We may withhold information where disclosure could put someone at risk, reveal another person’s private information or prejudice an investigation.
13. Questions and changes
- We may update these guidelines as the app changes or the law changes. The version in the app and on our website is always the current one.
- For a question about these guidelines, or a safety concern that is not an emergency, email support@wingd.co.uk.
- If you have lost access to the phone number on your account and need account-recovery help, email help@wingd.co.uk.
- For anything to do with your personal data, email privacy@wingd.co.uk.
